Vanish is a serve. It can also be used as a smash.
After hitting the ground, the ball slides across the ground while rotating around its own axis for a short amount of time. This produces a dust cloud which conceals the ball. Because of this, the opponent cannot see the point from which the ball bounces sharply upwards.
