The Moonsault is an aerial volley and a key example of Acrobatic Tennis.

The move involves the user jumping high into a backflip and hitting the ball while their body is parallel to the ground, at the end of the flip’s rotation. The momentum from the flip and the steep angle of the shot makes it difficult to return. It is likely inspired by the wrestling move of the same name.[1]

Low Moonsault

At U-17 Training Camp on the Loser’s mountain the Low Moonsault was invented by Kurobane Harukaze and Mukahi Gakuto. While the two were fleeing through the trees from eagles during the eagle attack training NPoT ep. 7, Kurobane suggested that Mukahi evade an eagle with a “Low Moonsault.” It was unheard of, but Mukahi improvised under pressure and brought it into existence. The Low Moonsault follows the same principle as the Moonsault, but starts with a lower jump height.
