'''Oshitari Yuushi''' (<ruby><rb>忍足侑士</rb><rp>(</rp><rt>おしたりゆうし</rt><rp>)</rp></ruby>) is a 3rd year student at [[Hyoutei Academy Middle School]] and a regular on Hyoutei's tennis team. He is introduced as Hyoutei's genius ''(tensai)'' with unknown and untapped potential, comparable to Seigaku’s resident genius, [[Fuji Shuusuke]]. Although friendly, Oshitari has the ability to close off his mind/heart so nobody truly knows what he's thinking. Oshitari Yuushi ("Oshitari") is originally from Osaka, the source of his iconic Kansai dialect/accent. His cousin [[Oshitari Kenya]] ("Kenya") lives there and attends [[Shitenhouji Middle School]].

==Appearance==
Oshitari has dark blue, long layered hair, fashioned in what also known as a mullet. He wears round frame glasses without a prescription, and he is fairly tall. In the manga his eyes are brown, but in the anime they are a dark purple/blue color. He is usually seen wearing his uniform jersey and polo zipped/buttoned all the way up. He plays with a wristband on his right wrist and his racket is dark green in the anime.

==Personality==
Best known for his glasses, his host club voice, and his love for romance, Oshitari is both genius and rascal. He frequently comments on the situations he's present for, as the voice of reason (assuming a tsukkomi<ref>[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manzai#Boke_and_tsukkomi Boke and tsukkomi]</ref> role.)

==History==
===2 Years Before ''Prince of Tennis''===
Oshitari moved to Tokyo at the beginning of middle school, entering [[Hyoutei Academy Middle School]] as a first year. He is late for his first day of school due to taking the wrong train, and complains on the phone to his cousin [[Oshitari Kenya]] that he's having a bad time in the city so far. It is then he notices a commotion in the tennis club, and he follows to check out the chaos.

He observes as [[Atobe Keigo]] defeats the entire Hyoutei tennis club, then sees him defeat [[Shishido Ryou]] and [[Mukahi Gakuto]]. Oshitari then walks onto the court and introduces himself, offering to play a match against Atobe, despite being in his school uniform. He and Atobe play a long, close match. Although ultimately Oshitari loses, Atobe deems him a worthy opponent. Oshitari remarks that Atobe is flashy. He calls Kenya once again and says perhaps Tokyo won't be so bad.

===Some time before ''Prince of Tennis''===

Oshitari sets out to solve what could make [[Akutagawa Jirou]] motivated to stay awake at practice. He drags [[Mukahi Gakuto|Mukahi]] with him after school one day to Kanagawa, where they are following Akutagawa. Despite Oshitari's efforts, he and Mukahi are not subtle at all in their spying. They witness Akutagawa's enthusiasm at the idea of playing another match against [[Marui Bunta]] and return to Hyoutei with intel.

Those who read their opponent will have no luck in a match against Oshitari, who likes to read his opponents as well. His style is not spontaneous, but calculated and planned.
